Sites vs. Site Channels

What is a Site?

A Site is a way to group Site Channels. It also allows you to share settings across those Site Channels.

Here are the parts of Site Stacker that are exclusively connected to a Site:

  • All checkout page settings
  • Default System Message sender
  • Payment Processor Gateways

What is a Site Channel?

A Site Channel is what your actual website visitors will reach when they type in your domain. All of your content and campaigns are tied to your Site Channel. Site Channels within the same Site can share content, which is helpful when managing multiple versions of a similar website.

Here are the parts of Site Stacker that are exclusively connected to a Site Channel:

  • Contributions “Thank you” page
  • System Messages
  • Domains
  • Templates
  • Content
  • Contributions

When should I create a new Site or Site Channel?

A Site Channel is required every time you want to create a new unique website. A Site should only be created if you would like to silo your content or add an entirely different payment processor for a new website. 9 times out of 10, we recommend you create a new Site Channel and not an entirely new Site.
